Elder Lydia Goodin

Founder/President Emeritus 

Elder Lydia Goodin was born in Fort Pierce, Florida.  She received a music scholarship to attend Bethune-Cookman College in Daytona Beach and received a master’s degree in Reading from Nova University.   She is a retired educator after having served as a teacher in Miami Dade County Public Schools for more than 35 years. 

She was reared as a member of Triumph The Church and Kingdom of God in Christ where she served as an Ordained Elder/Evangelist, Prophetess, musician, Music Consultant, School of Wisdom Teacher and Youth Minister. She is a singer and musician in her own right. Elder Goodin was the co-host of the Stellar Award winning station, AM 1490 WMBM’s “Rhythm Ride Home”.  She's the recipient of numerous local and national awards which include her 2007 Induction into the National Broadcasters Hall of Fame.  Among these awards, she was nominated as GMWA/Gospel Announcer’s Guild Board's "Gospel Announcer of the Year".   At the time, she was the only female to be nominated.  Prior to her recent retirement, she'd been on radio for nearly 40 years.  At the same radio station. 

 

She is the founder and president emeritus of both the Florida Gospel Announcers’ Guild and the Miami Gospel Announcers’ Guild, now the Miami Dade Alliance of Gospel Music Professional.   She served in these capacities from 1985 to 2010.

Min. Johnny Sanders

President

Min. Johnny Sanders is a Miami native.  He holds an Associate of Arts Degree in Mass Communications and Journalism; a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Humanities & Public Relations/Communication; a Certificate in Theology; and a Master of Science Degree in Organizational Leadership. Johnny has worked in the field of entertainment programming, marketing and advertising for more than 25 years.  He is both a Stellar and Grammy Award Nominated International Recording Artist.   He has served as host or guest host on a number of local, national and international radio & TV shows; in addition to hosting his own performing arts variety show, “Center Stage with Johnny Sanders” which aired on the Urban Television Network.  Johnny is also a published, syndicated columnist.  His column “Johnny on the Spot” appeared in three national and two international publications for more than a decade.  Currently, he serves as the National Public Relations Director & Field Correspondent for Gospel USA Magazine, one of the longest running publications in the Gospel/Faith Based Industry.

 

Johnny has toured nationally, as well as internationally, performing in the likes of Africa, England, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Germany, and the Caribbean.  He has graced the stage with countless International stars of both stage and screen. He has appeared on countless TV Shows and has toured with both music tours and stage plays. 

 

Having an eye and ear for talent, Johnny has served as Audition Coordinator and Entertainment Programmer for numerous touring companies, including serving on a distinguished panel of Judge’s for “Showtime at the Apollo” Kid’s Talent Search.  Johnny is the immediate past president of the Diaspora Arts Coalition, an arts advocacy organization established in 1998 which provides development and training for artists and organizations. In additionally, He belongs to various other professional organizations.  2017 to Present

MJ Smith

MGAG Past President

Born and raised in Miami, Florida MJ Smith has honed his skills as one of Miami’s premier radio personalities.  With a wide range of experiences as a professional Emcee, Voice-over talent, and Radio DJ for AM-1490 WMBM, he has called the station home for eight years.  He is a two-time Stellar Award Nominee for “Announcer of The Year”; and a three-time nominee for “Best Male Radio Announcer of the Year” for the Independent Artists Christian Music Awards.  Additionally, he was inducted into the Florida Gospel Announcers’ Guild Radio Announcers’ Hall of Fame and won the Rhythm of Gospel Awards “Radio Announcer of the Year” Award.

 

MJ’s voice has been heard internationally voicing commercials and promotions for corporations, artists and government officials.  He has opened concerts and conducted interviews with countless celebrities and industry moguls spanning gospel & mainstream music, TV, Movies and the gamut.  He currently serves as the host of the “Rhythm Ride Home” on AM 1490 WMBM, where he is also the-go-to for producing and engineering commercials and radio shows. 

 

MJ served as president of the Miami Gospel Announcer Guild, now the Miami-Dade Alliance of Gospel Music Professionals from 2010 – 2017.
